The view from 2100' at Cape Lookout, looking northeast
The view from 1800' looking southwest. Crossing the gap, either direction, requires good altitude. What is good depends upon the conditions but below 600' MSL is asking for trouble. Deep Salal would be better than the ocean, however, so don't spend much time low over the water
The cliffs are covered with Salal 10 feet deep. The walk out is a hassle, and you may have more of a problem reaching the ground than you can imagine. This assumes that you are not attempting to cross the gap while way out over the ocean. When the rotor hits as you fly too low over the gap you should at least be over the bushes instead of the water. Web site © 2008 Cascade Paragliding Club
