Coffin Mountain

Access

Coffin Mt., seen here from the west looking east, is a flat-topped 5771' mountain off the Santiam Highway 15 miles beyond Detroit, along Highway 22. Turn on Straight Creek road (Road 11) just past Marion Forks. Follow signs to Coffin Mountain trail. Take a fork to the right. (Road 11 is the Quartzville Road, a beautiful drive to the Willamette Valley.)

Hike a gentle slope one mile to the summit. Advanced conditions apply to the launch and landing.

Launch: from summit ridge, into west and northwest winds.bLower benches have also been launched and landed on. LZ will be clearcuts and roads out in front, or top/bench land.
