Tygh Valley is a site south of The Dalles that faces south and produces thermals. The lower hill has been launched in all directions. LINK to topozone.com map of the lower hill, in section 32, and the upper launch, in section 29. Jerry Hauser owns the area we use for landing. He has a hog farm west of the hill at the base of Postage Stamp and has given permission to use his land(ing) site. It wouldn't hurt to check in with him (first hog farm on the left as you head west) as we have not flown here recently. The upper launch is behind a fence in the White River Wildlife Area. Sometimes it can be accessed by the road that winds up the hill next to highway 197, passing through a gate. The hike is about a mile or more, depending on where you want to take flight. Take a map with you if you are new to the site.
